The Curve Fashion Festival 2017 & Face of OBD Curves

The Curve Fashion Festival 2017

This years Curve Fashion Festival was held at the Liverpool Exhibition Centre on the 9th September and from start to finish it was a fab experience and we can’t to be part of it next year.

Below is a picture of our stand. We have to thank the Celtic Curves girls for doing a photoshoot in our tops so we could use the pictures on the stand! They all look so fab!

On the day we got to meet alot of lovely people and introduce ourselves to people who haven’t heard of  OBD. Our Adele Hello Its Me Jumper went down a storm and sold pretty quickly! If you have one and haven’t already tagged us in a picture then we would love to see you in yours!

On the day we got some great pictures with our slogan boards you can see some below and the rest can be see on our facebook page.

We also got a visit from Sandra from Goggle box who got some pictures with some of our staff and competition winners.

We received some great feedback on the day, with a lot of people asking about vest tops, we are looking into this and will hopefully be able to extend our vest range sizes in the near future. For those that don’t know even though are plus size range is t-shirts and a lot of people find t-shirts too hot to workout in, ours are designed to breathable and any sweat is wicked away before you notice is. They are made from 100% polyester and have tiny little holes in the material which is what makes them great for working out in. We really enjoyed this years fashion festival and we have been really busy since. From the catwalks to the prosecco on tap the day was one day that can’t be missed, bring on 2018!

Face of OBD Curves

As well as having a stand at this years Curve Fashion Festival we also held the final of Face of OBD Curves Competition. We have 3 of our finalists with the top likes on their entry, come along to the festival so we could meet them, give them a model makeover and find out why they should become the Face of OBD Curves. We have to be honest all the girls were so fab it wasn’t an easy decision. Here is our three finalists after we got them in our tops and give them a makeover.

The  day started with pizza and Prosecco for our lovely girls and then once each of them had their hair and makeup done we took pictures of them with our slogan boards, this was to help us see who was most confident and photogenic. Over the day we got to know the girls personally, this was another stage in helping us to decide who should be the face. In the afternoon we then got all the girls on stage and asked them why they think they should become the face of the brand. To us this is very important, we wanted someone who was just as passionate about our brand as us. All the girls gave great speeches which you can watch here.

After much deliberation between quite a few of use we then decided on a winner which was Becca Turner! Check out the action shot of when we announced she won below. You will now see Becca all over our website looking fab in our gym clothes! We recently did a shoot with her and she worked so hard and we couldn’t be happier with her being the face of our brand.

We really enjoyed running this competition this year and getting to know some fab people and can’t wait to run the same competition next year.

#BEESTRONG – Support Manchester

OBD Clothing Manchester Bee Product #BEESTRONG photo-02-min

We’re a born and bred Mancunian brand and we are so very proud of how Manchester stood up and supported each other after the recent terrible attack. The strength, community and power of the people we call neighbours came together that night and ever since to show how strong and resilient we are. Because of that, we wanted to show our support for our hometown and help those affected by the tragedy. We want everyone to make a statement, stand up for what’s right and #BEESTRONG.

We have designed a #BEESTRONG collection to support the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund. Charity Registration no. 220949 (England and Wales) and SC037738 (Scotland). Each top is made to order and £4.00 from each sale will go to the charity.

The #BEESTRONG design is available in a women’s vest top (size 10-16) and is made from 100% pure cotton. It contours to the body and is available in black or white along with the slogan available in a variety of colours.

We’ve also designed a #BEESTRONG unisex t-shirt for men and women (Size Small – 5XL). With a taped neck and shoulders along with being quarter-turned to eliminate crease. This is also available in black and white.

The Bee has become the symbol of Manchester. It’s always represented the hard work of Mancunians. During the industrial revolution, textile mills were described as hives of activity and the workers inside them compared to bees. Now the emblem means so much more and we’re proud to include it in our design. We didn’t want to just watch people support Manchester, we actively wanted to support and get involved.

We’d love you to support the charity and to make it even easier for you; we’re offering £1.00 delivery on all Manchester Bee products with code “BEESTRONG”

Thanks for your support. Manchester we love you.

Girl Gains – the rise of strength fitness

OBD - Strength fitness customised slogan t-shirts

Remember when all magazines and TV programmes spoke about was how to be thin? It’s just so much pressure on the mental muscles right? That burden to work out to stay as trim as possible has always been lingering around women. Slowly things are changing. We’re really happy about the shift in mental attitudes towards strength fitness over the last couple of years and we can’t wait for the shift to make an even bigger dent going forward. Now the focus is moving towards being fit, not just thin. That’s a message we love. The proof is out there and can be found by checking out hashtags such as #fitnotthin and #girlgains. You can see that hundreds, if not thousands of women are celebrating their strength and power over what size dress they’re wearing.

Along with that message the rise in strength training workouts amongst women has become a massive trend. People are finally reporting that it’s all about strength and feeling amazing. Obviously, here at OBD, we aim to support that message and we’ve got some pretty great cutomised slogan t-shirts and vest tops that will help you look and feel great during any workout. From firming your core with planks to lower body split squats, our t-shirts are made for you to work out in, and make a statement at the same time. The above are some of our favourite strength fitness related slogan tops to get you ready to burn!

OBD gym wear offers UPF 30+ UV protection and are made from Neoteric™ textured fabric with inherent wickability. This means it helps to draw moisture away from the skin as you sweat it out. It also feels soft against the skin which we know is so important when you’re doing any kind of exercise. As we always say, we don’t just want you to look good, we want you to feel good too. Now get squatting!

Plus Size Just Got Customised – #OBDCurves Has Arrived

OBD Curves sizes 18 - 28

Last week we officially launched our OBD Curves range and it’s been pretty exciting to watch it come to life. Our customised slogan clothing with a statement is now available in plus size ranging from 18–28. With over 100 variations, we know you’ll find something for you. Our t-shirts are made to make a statement at the gym, but can just as easily be paired them with some distressed jeans for the perfect weekend vibe outfit. They could even be your go-to when you’re just relaxing at home, making it your perfect fitting loungewear. It’s all about making it yours, which is why we’re all about customised design.

We were over the moon to see some of our favourite bloggers wearing OBD Curves this week. Their invaluable feedback will help us shape the collection, as will yours, so always feel free to drop us a message. We’ve had some great feedback so far.

Naomi Diamonds & Pearls Plus Size Blogger Wearing OBD Curves Customised slogan t-shirt
Naomi –

The stunning plus size fashion blogger Naomi from Diamonds & Pearls is wearing our ‘You Got This Girl’ slogan tee in black and gave us some feedback after she gave it a test run:

“Great tee, sized up for a more relaxed fit as I like my clothes to be loose when I’m working out! Wore this to my running club last week and got a few people comment on the slogan! It’s so bright!”

Then we caught up with the lovely Kat from The World Through Kat’s Eyes, a blogger and fitness instructor. She wore our ‘My Body My Rules’ Curves t-shirt in Hawaiian Blue (one of our favourite colours!). Kat told us:

“I adore my new OBD Curve T-Shirt. Being a fitness instructor I go through a lot of active wear, many t-shirts are too heavy to workout in, especially the ones with catchy slogans on them, so it’s nice to have a lightweight and breathable tee that will keep me cool during a class… It’s a great fit for me, lovely and loose on the arm and not to clingy on the tummy.’’

With an aim of expanding the range and bringing more plus size gym wear to OBD, we want to empower women and help them feel great in what they’re wearing, just like our standard range. Working out doesn’t have to be boring and our customized slogan clothing proves it.

Take a look at the new collection now and make a statement with #OBDCurves.
